Fight Club's Tyler Durden Has Hacked The Social Network

Fight Club's Tyler Durden  - Judging by the Friday box office numbers (the film pulled in $8 million in its opening night), many of you have seen David Fincher's The Social Network this weekend. And why wouldn't you? The film has earned critical praise from nearly every outlet and has substantial Oscar buzz in nearly every category. It's an award worthy film and may very well earn Fincher his first Academy Award. But that doesn't mean he didn't have some fun with it.

Having just returned from my first time seeing the film since August, I noticed a little Easter Egg that Fincher fans will love and is certainly something to keep your eye out for in subsequent viewings (it somehow actually gets better the second time around). During a scene in which Mark, played by Jesse Eisenberg, is talking with his friend Eduardo, played by Andrew Garfield, he mentions that he has established a fake Facebook page so that he may cheat on an Art History assignment. So what was the fake name he gave to make the profile? None other than Tyler Durden, Brad Pitt's character from Fincher's Fight Club. All you have to do is look in the top left corner, and there it will sit in all it's Easter Eggy goodness.

Personally, I'm a sucker for when directors do things like this. It feels like an award for paying attention, and who doesn't want to get rewarded? If you haven't seen the film yet, look out for this little bit of goodness when you do. If you have seen the film, do yourself a favor and see it again.
