Florida State tops all state teams in latest polls

The last time Florida State was ranked higher than Florida in the AP Top 25 poll was the week of November 5, 2005.

That Saturday, FSU lost to N.C. State and the Gators beat Vanderbilt in two overtimes and the Seminoles haven't been ranked higher since – until today.

Florida State is ranked No. 16 in the latest rankings following their 45-17 win over Miami. The Gators fell to No. 22 after their last-second loss at home to LSU. Miami fell out of the Top 25.

In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Florida State is No. 17, Florida is No. 22 and Miami just missed being in the Top 25.

Ohio State topped both polls.

The Buckeyes are followed by Oregon, Boise State, TCU and Nebraska in the AP poll.

Oklahoma, Auburn, Alabama, LSU and South Carolina round out the top 10.

The second 10 consists of Utah, Arkansas, Michigan State, Stanford, Iowa, FSU, Arizona, Wisconsin, Nevada and Oklahoma State.

The final five in the AP poll are Missouri, Florida, Air Force, Oregon State and West Virginia.
